Clinical Training Overview
A total of three clinical courses is a part of each program. Externship courses must be successfully completed in order to graduate. These courses start in semester three (3) of the program. All students are required to complete the externship segment of the program before the issuance of a certificate of completion. No student is exempted from this portion of the program.
Externship is a crucial part of the programs which allows students to acquire vital skills through workplace exposure under the supervision of a registered Sonographer within the appropriate area of study prior to graduation. Students must be prepared to experience added stress as classroom and lab knowledge is tested in the clinical setting.
The student must conform to clinical sites' protocols, perform responsibly, ethically, and professionally. This section of the program is conducted under the guidance of the clinical site preceptors and school clinical director. Student progress is evaluated by both entities.
Student Requirements
- Submit time records, procedures, and case logs to Trajecsys.
- Submit at least one scan at the end of each semester for competency evaluation.
- Conform to clinical site protocols and perform responsibly, ethically, and professionally.
- Failure to comply with submission requirements may result in a failure grade.
Trajecsys Clinical Records
The school uses Trajecsys, a centralized clinical record-keeping program for health education programs that monitors student clinical performance. Students are required to log all time records, procedures, and case submissions through this platform.
Externship Site Placement
It is the school's responsibility to secure one externship site for each student. However, students with access to clinical sites may elect to make initial individual arrangements but must first submit information to the Clinical Director for approval.
No student is exempted from the externship portion of the program. Completion is required before a certificate of completion is issued.
